Learning Legend of the Five Rings

Written by

Legend of the Five Rings has exploded at the store these last couple of months. A lot of you have noticed this. Perhaps some of you have even watched me, Dave, or Clint demo the game out for some new players but haven't felt up to trying out the game yourself, just to see what it's like. This article will try to help explain more of what the game is like, how it rewards players for being involved, and why you should want to be involved in this game that's been around almost as long as Magic: the Gathering.

Talking to Store Owners

Written by

This is a presentation that I had meant to give at the Judge Conference at GP: Minneapolis, but sadly events conspired against me and so now instead I am going to be offering it up as an article. It is a collection of my thoughts and experiences as both a store owner and judge. Changes in standard with AVR

Written by

We have just a little over a week before Avacyn Restored is officially released.  What does this mean for standard?  Many existing decks will be getting some new tools to work with.  There have been a lot of articles talking about which cards are the best, and what people expect to see play, but many of these articles haven't had much information talking specifically about which current decks will be affected by the influx of new cards.  Today Josh Sits down and explains the current top decks and how the cards from Avacyn Restored will likely affect them!

Lapsing Triggers and You

Written by

You may have heard that there was a major change recently to the tournament rules for magic, and you have heard right. Missed Triggers have had a major addition, the addition of "Lapsing Abilities". I will try to help explain what is and is not a lapsing ability, and why, that way you can be prepared for the ruling that you are going to get at the PTQ this weekend.  As another judge said "Remember your triggers!"
