Battlezone Games is Cedar Rapids' premier Magic store.

Products

Before a set is released we presale booster boxes for $85. Standard price for a box after release is $90, though supply issues may force us to raise the price of boxes for a set temporarily.

Booster Packs are $3.50 each from the most recent set. Older sets are $3.69. 

We maintain an active singles inventory that fills 4 display cases plus several more boxes. If you are looking for a particular card, make sure to come in and take a look. We also trade in cards and buy collections. Take a look at our Buy List to find out what we are looking for at the moment.

Events

We host sanctioned Magic events multiple times a week and there are always people around to play casual games with.

Friday Night Magic

Friday Night Magic starts at 6pm. There is a $5 entry fee.

We play four rounds, then award a booster pack to players based on the number of rounds that they have won. If you win all four rounds you win 4 packs and have a lot of fun along the way. FNM promos are given out to the top two players and to two random players.

The top 8 players at each FNM earn points based on their standing for store champs. 

Store Champs

Store champs is a special promotional tournament only in the store. Seasons are three months long (Jan-Mar, Apr-Jun, Jul-Sept, Oct-Dec). At the end of each season the top 16 players by points are invited to a special tournament. Typically we offer $100 for first place and $50 for second place. Occasionally, we may offer an alternative option for the prizes, such as custom playmats or sponsership to tournaments.

Drafts

We host drafts Friday Night after FNM and Sunday afternoon at 12:30pm. Standard cost for drafts is $12. A draft only costs $5 if you have all three packs. We offer a 6-4-1-1 prize payout for our drafts.

Official Formats 

Standard

Standard consists of cards printed in the last 2 blocks and the most current core set. 

Extended

Extended consists of cards printed in the last 7 years. Our extended tournaments do not allow for proxies. 

Legacy & Vintage 

Legacy and Vintage both allow cards printed over the entire life of Magic. We do allow up to 25 proxies in our legacy and vintage tournaments.

Unofficial Formats 

Elder Dragon Highlander (EDH)

EDH is a popular casual format. Players play with 99 card decks with an extra Legendary Creature as their general. Complete rules for EDH can be found on it's official site. This is a Vintage format, so almost every card you have is legal. If you are curious about it, we have some extra EDH decks in the store. We are glad to help people with their decks. 

Pauper

Ever think that magic is just about who has spent the most on their cards? It can certainly seem like it at times. Pauper format only allows commons. No rares, no uncommons, just commons. It can't get any cheaper than that. Pauper can be applied to any format, though pauper vintage and pauper standard are the two most popular formats.
